Buenos Aires (earlier writing: Buenos Ayres; named after the patron saints of the seafarers Santa Maria del Buen Aire; officially Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires / autonomous town of Buenos Aires) ist the capital and the commercial and industrial center of Argentina.
Buenos Aires is in the temperate climate zone. The average annual temperature amounts to 17.5 degrees (Celsius), the annual amount of precipitation is 1.173 millimeters on average.
The warmest month is January with an average of 24.5 degrees (Celsius), the coldest one is July with 11.1 degrees (Celsius). Most precipitation fells in the month March with 142 millimeters on average, least in June on an average of 61 millimeters.
However, Buenos Aires is also a world capital of the tango (dance). Every year there is a tango festival an the tango world championship will be held in Buenos Aires. The most famous tango artists of the town appears at the end of February / beginning of March. More than 70 concerts take place in the most different arrangement kinds (in the big theaters, the most important bars, but also Open Air arrangements).
Further significant places of Buenos Aires are the cemetery of Recoleta where the rest of Evita Perón are buried lies, the obelisk on the Avenida 9 de Julio, the broad street of the world, the old harbour area Puerto Madero with the restored warehouses, the old part of town San Telmo with his picturesque streets and the antique market, the former central market the Abasto where today a shopping center is accommodated and the artist's quarter La Boca, is known for his color-splendid house facades.
